July 20, 2020 - HHS Response to COVID-19 Efforts for Latinos with Heart and Lung Disease NHMA hosted a virtual Congressional briefing exploring how the U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) responded to the COVID-19, with a focus on the Hispanic population with heart and lung disease. Surgeon General Adams discussed what the federal government is doing to help the most vulnerable population. Dr. Gladys Velarde from the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville, discussed how COVID-19 has disproportionately affected the Hispanic population, especially those with cardiovascular disease.
