The Emerging Leaders in Dairy Nutrition Science Scholarship is offered by the National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA) in collaboration with National Dairy Council (NDC) to support students passionate about nutrition, dairy science and improving health outcomes in Latino communities.

This scholarship gives students the chance to attend the 2026 NHMA Annual Conference, connect with leaders in health and nutrition and share their perspectives on the role of nutrition and dairy science in advancing health equity. Scholars will also engage in professional growth opportunities, thought leadership and community-focused initiatives.

About the Scholarship

Three students will be selected to receive financial support to attend the 2026 NHMA Annual Conference (May 27–29, 2026) in Leesburg, VA, where they will have access to mentorship, networking and professional development opportunities.

Eligibility

  • Be a current student (undergraduate, graduate or professional program).
  • Demonstrate an interest in nutrition, dairy science and/or food systems.
  • Be willing to repost the scholarship recipient announcement graphic(s).
  • Attend the entire 2026 NHMA Annual Conference.
  • Be willing to participate in an in-person, recorded interview at the 2026 NHMA Annual Conference to discuss conference experiences and key learnings related to nutrition and dairy science.
  • Be willing to engage with and collaborate on social media posts regarding acceptance of the scholarship, your experience at the NHMA Annual Conference and key learnings on nutrition and dairy science.

Scholarship Package (Value Up to $1,625)

  • Conference registration (fully covered)
  • Hotel accommodations (up to three nights, arranged by NHMA)
  • Airfare stipend
  • Local transportation stipend

Stipends may only be used for conference participation-related costs.
