Chapter Chair

National Communication Committee Member, Dr. Gomez is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. His clinical interests include the management and prevention of infectious complications in immunocompromised patients, including individuals with solid-organ transplants, hematological malignancies, and weakened immune systems due to biological therapy.

Additional areas of interest include clinical research on novel diagnostics and interventional clinical trials. Dr. Gomez received his M.D. degree from Universidad Nacional de Colombia before completing his Internal Medicine training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). He then pursued advanced fellowship training in Infectious Diseases (ID), Medical Microbiology, and Transplant & Immunocompromised Host ID at Stanford University. Dr. Gomez is board-certified in Infectious Diseases.
