NHMA Advancing Physician Leaders Fellowship
Cultivating Future Health Care Leaders
The NHMA Advancing Physician Leaders Fellowship, formerly the Leadership Fellowship Program, was launched in 1999 to support Hispanic physicians in health policy and academia. It aims to enhance leadership skills and increase representation in governmental, academic and institutional executive roles. By equipping physicians with essential skills and resources, the fellowship empowers them to become impactful leaders and promote health equity.
Policy-making and Advocacy
Fellows actively participate in the policy-making process through a comprehensive program that strengthens their ability to advocate for health equity, culminating in a Capstone Project.
Leadership Development
Direct engagement with national leaders strengthens fellows’ leadership, advocacy, and policy skill sets.
Networking
Fellows build powerful professional networks through NHMA events and an advocacy week in Washington, D.C.
About the Fellowship
A 12-month learning experience designed for early and mid-career physicians committed to advancing health equity.
